Computer Based Training
EDUC 767 Focus Areas · Just-in-time scenario-based modular development · User interface design · Visual design · Usability testing · Employing common instructional strategies for self-paced learning · Research, trends and standards in computer-based training · Use of SCORM compliant multimedia software · Reusable Learning Objects A Look at Reusable Learning Objects As we progress in our program for the Instructional Design Certificate, the tasks progress as well. In this course we studied about the purposes of Reusable Learning Objects (RLO) in business, industry and education. Essentially we aim for RLOs to be isolated units of study that can continuously be used regardless of change in content in subsequent study units. For instance, an insurance company may have an RLO on the guidelines of handling customer support calls and separate modules (LOs) with particular incidences that arise. If the company should see new trends or common errors among call center employees, they can simply change the subsequent module to match those scenarios: thus enabling the continued use of the original RLO without significant change and/or investments. |
